Human And Dog Paw

Welcome

so happy to have you here!

Pawsitively Fetch offers behavior-based dog coaching, with a focus on practical skill building for real life—not just perfect obedience.

We believe dog training is about more than creating an obedient dog or using perfection as the compass for success. Real, lasting behavior change requires nuance, curiosity, and an understanding of both ends of the leash. It demands empathy from your coach and education delivered in an easy-to-understand way—tools you can actually apply to your unique, real-life dynamics without adding pressure to your schedule or mental load.

At Pawsitively Fetch, we’re throwing out outdated, fear-based training ideologies. Our mission is to help change the future of dog training and education by teaching dogs how to succeed in the human world—while helping their people feel capable, supported, and informed every step of the way.

WARNING!

This is NOT your mother's dog training.

Leave your shame, dog guardian guilt, and what you thought you knew about canine cognition behind.

No matter where you started, we're here to coach and support you along the way to a stress free life with your pooch.

Dog's Curious Look

What we mean when we say Pawsitively Fetch is not your mother’s dog training.

  • We follow LIMA Standards set forth by APDT and IAABC and apply LIFE Standards to our methods.

  • We believe positive reinforcement training methods can be applied to every dog, regardless of age, breed, or background.

  • We stay curious and flexible to new science and concepts that can improve our training methods.

  • We actively reject dusty old concepts (myths) made popular and mainstream by media personalities with zero scientific data.

  • We empathize with our dogs, while respecting their species uniqueness and avoid anthropomorphizing them.

Meet our Owner

It’s 10am on a Saturday.

I’m standing on my front porch watching my 20-week-old puppy dart around the grass between townhomes.

All I have left in my hands is the leash… and the collar that used to be on him—before he pulled, pushed, and wriggled his little fuzzy butt right out of it and took off in the opposite direction instead of coming back inside.

And I’m thinking:

“Why did I think I could do this? I must be the worst dog owner ever.”

I’m even mentally drafting the email to re-home my puppy.

Hi, I’m Sara—founder and owner of Pawsitively Fetch, and I’ve been exactly where you are.

I’ve been in the professional pet care industry for over 15 years, and when I finally adopted my very own adult dog in 2018—and later raised my first puppy in 2021—I was determined to do everything “the right way.”

Instead, I found myself overwhelmed by conflicting advice, internet opinions, TV dog trainers, and a whole lot of “this worked for my dog.” The more I tried to do everything perfectly, the more lost and helpless I felt.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

I started Pawsitively Fetch to challenge outdated, fear-based training methods and replace them with something better—training that’s rooted in science, guided by empathy, and designed for real life.

My goal is simple: to help you and your dog build a calm, connected, and enriching life together—without shame, force, or feeling like you’re failing.

Because you’re not a bad dog owner. You’re just learning—and you don’t have to do it alone.

Client Love Notes

Sarah L.

"Best Trainer EVER! Sara made it SOOOOO easy- she was flexible with training availability and made it the easiest for us to follow through with at home. She trained the dog and also trained us in a way. He has a much better demeanor with us and the baby. Also his leash walking has improved so much that I LOOK FORWARD to putting the lead on him!! 10/10 stars love Sara so much"

Jeff S.

"I have a golden retriever and I was losing my patience with him- I also have a family and ZERO time. I couldn’t imagine an easier process! After working with Sara, our dog no longer jumps on people, he knows “sit” (with a verbal AND a hand command) “wait” (when we set down his food) “lay down” and “gentle” (with treats)."

Chitra R.

"Sara is the best! Always on time and so very helpful. I am very glad we can lean on Sara for any support with our not-so-young puppy."
